Simple Social Sharing Stats for WordPress

It's good to share.

I’m always on the lookout for good social sharing plugins. After all, I am a bit of a social media junkie these days.

In the past I’ve reviewed my fair share – whether it’s Digg Digg, Shareaholic, or Social Metrics. That last plugin is of most relevance today, as although I liked it, it did leave me feeling rather uncomfortable.

As you will know if you read my recent article, I am not a fan of plugins that aren’t totally transparent about their offerings. Social Metrics shows you the settings screen available to premium users, but blanks it out – without actually telling you why. It’s confusing and misleading, and I don’t like it.

With that in mind, I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across Social Sharing Stats this morning.

There is nothing awe-inspiring about this plugin – it is just a simple and lightweight analytics tool that shows you the sharing stats for the three main social media networks, on your dashboard. Here’s a screenshot from my blog:

Once I had installed the plugin, I took a moment to remove some of the superfluous items from the All Posts screen using the Screen Options tab, and what I was left with was the information I wanted to see. Most notably, in this context, the social sharing figures for Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Social Sharing Stats offers a quick and easy way of analyzing how well your posts are performing alongside each other in terms of social sharing. As you can see from the screenshot above, two posts in particular performed well. With that knowledge to hand, I can look to further investigate how well these posts performed in other areas (e.g. conversion rate), and then craft my future content accordingly.

As a nice extra touch, you can share your posts directly from the Dashboard by clicking on the social sharing buttons.

This is hardly ground-breaking stuff, but it is a lightweight, no frills plugin that can place social sharing statistics at your fingertips.
